Accurately identify the source of your symptoms through testing.
IgG antibodies are associated with “delayed” food reactions
that can worsen or contribute to many different health
problems. Food sensitivities can occur at any age, triggering
many different symptoms and contribute to a variety of disorders. From
a simple finger stick, the Bloodspot IgG4 Food Antibody Profile measures levels of IgG4 antibodies specific to 30 commonly offending
foods. It clearly identifies those foods that may be causing health
problems, helping to achieve positive outcomes sooner.
The Bloodspot IgG4 Food Antibody Profile is a bloodspot (fingerprick) test that you can do yourself. It measures
the total IgG levels that react to common food antigens.
With this test you can determine the primary cause of adverse food reactions.
You get very useful data to design an appropriate diet that excludes major
offending foods.
Food allergies have been implicated in a wide range of medical conditions
affecting virtually every part of the body- ranging from uncomfortable
symptoms such as indigestion and gastritis, to severe illnesses such as
celliac disease, arthritis, and chronic infection. Food allergies have
been linked to central nervous system disorders including depression,
anxiety, and chronic fatigue.
IgG antibodies are associated with delayed hypersensitivity reactions,
which are the most difficult to detect. These delayed or "hidden"
food allergies can cause chronic symptoms. Since IgG reactions occur several
hours or days later, there may be no obvious association between food
consumption and adverse reactions. Food IgG levels increase in response
to the presence of food antigens in the bloodstream, particularly commonly
eaten foods ( e.g. corn, wheat, soy, and eggs). IgG antibodies combine
with specific food antigens to form immune complexes which are considered
active agents in delayed allergic responses. The complexes can cause inflammatory
reactions at various sites in the body ( e.g. small and large intestines,
skin, kidney, ears, sinuses, head, lungs, and joints).
The frequency of food allergies and the number of persons affected has
increased dramatically in the last few years. Adverse food reactions and
food allergies are now reported in 25% of young children. Some practitioners
now believe that food allergies are the leading cause of undiagnosed symptoms
and that at least 60% of American suffer from symptoms due to adverse
food reactions.
